Left-fielder Jaime Andrade’s long three-run home run highlighted a five-run fourth inning that propelled the Damascus Grays to a 5-2 victory over the Honesdale Eagles on Thursday.

The Grays also got an RBI double from second baseman Norm Lewis and an RBI single from shortstop Alexander Loring in the inning. But it was Andrade’s majestic blast well beyond the fence in left field at Damascus Memorial Park that was the difference.

“I fouled off a fastball on the pitch before, so I had a feeling he (Honesdale starter John Morris) might come with a breaking ball, and I was right,” Andrade said. “He’s been around for a while and everyone knows he likes his curveball, so I was ready for it.”

Damascus starter Brandeis Lector was the beneficiary of the big inning. He went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four.

Honesdale shortstop Bill Cordonova, who had two hits, ripped a solo homer in the second and second baseman Denny Cole had an RBI double in the first.
